Generalized Anxiety Disorder

In Generalized Anxiety Disorder, there is an excessive worry about events or activities. It has the following characteristics:

A. Excessive anxiety and worry (apprehensive expectation), occurring more days than not for at least six months, about a number of events or activities (such as work or school performance).

B. The person finds it difficult to control the worry.

C. The anxiety and worry are associated with three or more of the following six symptoms (with at least some symptoms present for more days than not for the past six months).

These symptoms might interfere with your ability to function at work and with your loved ones and, most importantly, impact your overall satisfaction with your life. People struggling with an anxiety disorder can feel they cannot control their responses to situations by overreacting or find themselves avoiding the tasks they need to complete.
